Hair needs to be roughly 1/4 inch in length (minimum) to extract with sugar. While sugar can remove hair at shorter length than wax, you still want enough grow out to have a smooth end result.
If you are a shaver, please allow at least 12-14 days of growth before getting sugared!
If you have full grow out in the bikini area, it is okay to leave it. If you’d prefer to trim before the appointment, keep in mind trimmers often knick hairs too short, and allow a few days of grow out following any trimming.
Exfoliating before your appointment helps us reach the roots of your hair better, and can help us achieve a smoother result! However, please DO NOT exfoliate the day of your appointment, instead 48 hours prior.
Come to your appointment with clean skin, free of any lotions, oils, or deodorants.
If you are feeling sensitive or worried about discomfort, you may take ibuprofen or similar before your appointment to help with any inflammation.
If you are on skin thinning medication, PLEASE disclose this to your esthetician prior to your appointment as we may not be able to safely sugar you!
In the facial area, if you are using any type of Retin A, retinol, differin, AHA, or glycolic acid, you must wait 7 days after stopping use to be safely sugared as these thin the skin increasing a chance of lifting or tearing.
Clients who have taken oral Accutane must wait 12 months after stopping use to be sugared, and should be cleared by their doctor as well!
If you are currently on your cycle, no worries! We can still safely sugar you, but would like to disclose that due to your increased sensitivity you may feel a little more discomfort than usual. We also require a tampon or cup to be used during the service for sanitary reasons.
Proper after care is extremely important to maintain the quality of your skin and ease the grow back process! Your esthetician will take time at your appointment to go over after care options/recommend products to keep you smooth and happy:)
